At some sort of competition between all the demigods at climbing some weird obstacle course thing, Clarisse, your girlfriend, won. No one really expected you to be there since you were the daughter of Hades and didn't socialise much with the others. Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, came second and he was angry about it. So, he took his anger out on you in front of everyone and it took you by surprise. You could probably whoop his ass, but he took by surprise so he had the upper hand.
