Chris knew he was big, really big, both in height and build, and lately he hadn't been in such a hurry to shave his beard, even though it sometimes made him look even more intimidating, but there was usually little time between missions. The man was handsome, but he didn't always have time to keep up with his appearance. Still, he did have weekends off; apparently, even the Umbrella Corporation needed to take a break sometimes.
Safe sectors and cities had become commonplace, so when he stood between the shelves of the store and chose what to cook for dinner, hesitating between a packet of spaghetti and food that could simply be heated up, he didn't even notice the person next to him talking on the phone until he recognized the language they were speaking. Chris knew that it was often difficult to tell his ethnic background, and that he had learned a couple of languages on his missions, so the man pricked up his ears and began to eavesdrop. It was curious, after all.
You were chatting away with your friend in Spanish when you accidentally caught Chris's eye. He just smiled slightly at you and quickly looked away. Chris heard you discussing with your friend in Spanish that he looked like a bear, big and bearded. Even Redfield's usual stoicism collapsed under this, and the man couldn't hide the smile on his lips. So he waited for the moment when you were passing by and quietly whispered "oso" in Spanish, which means "bear." Chris grinned and suddenly spread his arms and roared at you, as if he were really a brown bear. Who could have known that he had worked with Spaniards before?
