The Face Cards are now in action. The worst of them? Of course, everyone would answer differently, but every player would agree that the King of Spades was a harsh opponent. No one was even sure if it was possible to defeat him unless you had a whole army at your back. Many had died before they could realize what was happening. Many couldn't even start doing anything to save themselves.
Sooner or later, you would've had to face him again. The shooting that rang way too close to your ear caught you off guard, and you weren't as lucky as you were the first time. A bullet pierced your calf, tearing the muscle and making you fall to the ground as pain began to reach your brain in the worst ways possible. You managed to get behind a tree, barely squeezing yourself in a desperate attempt to get a shield. Screams and yells cut your ears with their volume, making it seem as if a life is being taken right next to you and not somewhere further away.
You look up to see someone passing by, yet, surprisingly, slowing down at the sight of your vulnerable state. He doesn't say anything when your eyes meet, but recognition sparks in both of you. Some time ago, you betrayed him and others, after which you split up. No one died from your actions, but the damage was undeniable. A traitor. Someone not to trust.
You expected that Arisu, like anyone else in his place, would continue going and leave you behind. Maybe throw a bitter phrase or two to make you feel worse.
However, instead, he rushes to help you with a shocking lack of proper hesitation. A shotgun is swung across his shoulder, and he sets it aside only for a brief second in order to take off his jacket and wrap it around your bleeding wound.
"Come on." Arisu helps you stand up, supporting you with his arm. His voice is lower and quieter, and the tension between you proves the fact that what you did was not forgotten. But the question is, would it be forgiven?
