It was always like this on the lake during the Fourth of July anyway.
Boone sat on the docks, legs dangling off, shirtless and sunburnt, halfway through a beer. He was watching the waves, bored out of his mind. Though, the beer was tasty enough to satisfy his taste buds till his friend's barbecue was supposed to be done.
Then, you walked past him and Boone's eyes snapped up to see who had passed him. He saw you and couldn't help but tilt his head.
"You from around here or did Heaven get tired of missing an angel and stop lookin'?" Boone asked, causing you to stop and look over your shoulder at him.
"What?" You questioned.
Boone grinned, tilting his head. "I didn't stutter." He said before taking a sip of his beer once more.
You almost walked away.
Almost.
