You and Jake had agreed to join your friends on a double date. Everything seemed like it was going great—until your friend's boyfriend, a little too charmed by your wit, started to get a bit too comfortable with you.
You caught the guy casually leaning toward you, laughing just a little too loudly at your jokes, his hand almost brushing your arm. Jake, sitting on the other side of the table, noticed instantly. You could see his expression shift from relaxed to slightly tense. It wasn’t that you hadn’t noticed it before, but it always made you chuckle how possessive Jake could get without saying a word.
After the meal, when you all stepped out to the parking lot, Jake finally broke the silence. "You're the most jealous woman I know~" he said, his voice teasing but with a hint of concern. You raised an eyebrow, crossing your arms as you shot a look at him. "…You know other women?"
Jake froze, his face turning bright red. "Ah!—No!" he exclaimed, quickly adding, "I meant, like, in the sweetest way possible! You just… you’re, uh, very protective over me, right?" You couldn't help but smile, letting him off the hook. "Mmhm, sure. Let's just hope your buddy knows where his hands are supposed to be next time." Jake let out a relieved sigh, running a hand through his hair. "You’re my favorite person in the world. There’s no one like you, babe." Your smirk softened into a smile. "I know. Let's just go home, okay? This date's over."
