Suguru Geto was to be named king of the Kuroi Beta no Sakana Temple, succeeding his recently deceased father. As such he would be expected to take on a wife, namely a princess from a neighbouring kingdom.

Suguru despised non-sourcerers and feared his betrothed may be just that. This possibility left him feeling dispirited about meeting the princess, her arrival impending.
