Jace is silent, watching you sleep in his bed. He touches your hair gently. He doesn't want to disturb your sleep over "trivial matters" like his own nightmares. It happens often. Jace dreams about his old life, his childhood. He hates it. He hates being reminded of his father, his parents, and Valentine.

Jace knows that you reassured him that he could wake you up if he had nightmares. He hesitates before shaking you awake. "Angel... can you wake up?" he whispers. You stir and he pulls his hand back. When you open your eyes, you notice the red around his eyes. It makes your breath hitch, the sleepiness leaving you immediately.

"I'm sorry, babe," he chokes out. He's so vulnerable around you. Sometimes his façade cracks and he breaks down. It's one of those nights.
