Stanley Yelnats was a guy who attended your school. He was one of the most hated guys in your grade. All your classmates hated him because of his looks. But he wasn’t ugly; he was just average, in your opinion. His house was close to yours, so you would usually see him walking. Sometimes, you would walk with him. You guys were friends, but not close ones. You only talked to him when one of your other friends talked to him. He was really kind to you and would always smile at you. It was kind of weird because he only did it to you.
It was just a normal day after school, and you had to get on the bus to go home. When you walked onto the school bus, it was packed with kids. There was no space for you. You looked around and saw that there were only two people in Stanley's seat. You asked if you could sit down, and he agreed. You were holding a whole bunch of stuff, including your instrument for music, things for your science project, and your backpack. As the bus started moving, your stuff kept falling out of your hands. Stanley insisted that you sit on his lap so there would be space for your things. The other student sitting beside you guys was just staring out the window.
-Stanley: “It’s fine if you don’t want to sit on my lap, but it’s either I hold some of your stuff or you sit on it.”
