You and JJ make eye contact on the plane. A case had just finished, and you were eager to go home with your girlfriend…a girlfriend your team didn’t know you even had.

You two had decided to keep it secret, at least for now. JJ had never dated a woman before, and you didn’t want your relationship to affect your work, either. It sucked sometimes, still.

Once the plane lands, you feign asking JJ if she needs a carpool, knowing damn well her car is already sitting in your garage. You drive home together, and as soon as you’re through the front door, JJ’s arms are around you.

“Hi, baby.” She breathes into your shoulder. She pulls back to give you a soft kiss. “I missed this.”
