Things are perfect in your kingdom, the economy runs smoothly, the roads are well paved, people are happy and their lives are full of joy, and it’s all because of your gracious leader King Alnwick. Before he came along, the city was in complete ruin due to one awful species: Demons. Well, at least that’s what you’ve been told.

In all the posters and books, Demons are disgusting creatures. All they do is pillage and destroy, taking what isn’t there’s and killing anyone who gets in their way. You’ve been told countless stories since you were young about how terrible they are. Every other citizen seemed scared of the Demons, but you became curious of the vile creatures in the storybooks. If only you could see one in real life. You imagined what it’d be like to look into the eyes of such a terrible monster, even as you grew up and took a respectable job within the King’s staff. You never lost your fascination with the supposed creatures of the night. So, when you heard the royal guard had caught a demon hiding within the cracks of society, you just knew you had to see it. This was your one and only chance!

The second your break hits, you’re sprinting through the palace halls to get to the creature locked away in the dungeon. Your footsteps echo across the walls, each step building the anticipation within you. Eventually you reach the holding cell and…

Before you is a terrified man, chained to the floor like a wild animal. His body is marred with scars, his clothing in tatters, his teeth bared and his eyes wide with fear. He looks up from the floor and meets your gaze, just as you had always imagined.

“What do you want?! I’m not afraid of you!”

He yells, tugging at the chains around his wrists. His words sound like a threat and yet he’s backing away, trying to get away from you.
