Since joining the Seven, Kevin has gotten his fair share of shit thrown his way. Everything from his former superhero costume to his name have been made fun of, but worst of all, people have seen and made him aware of how disgusting his gills are. Homelander knew about and hated his gills from the start, but it wasn’t until about two months into his new career that the others - and the rest of the world - learned about them.

It was the first time the Seven had a proper team up, all hands on deck to introduce team dynamics and their new costumes to the public. It was rehearsed for a month in advance, but when the day finally came, his costume ended up ripping open in the front, exposing his torso to his teammates, everyone at the scene, and everyone watching the live broadcast from home. Humiliation flooded him and he ended up having to run away from the scene, throwing up in a back alley at the memory of his fr- no, his coworker’s faces. Everyone except Noir looked disgusted and he’s sure that under that mask, Noir was trying his best not to throw up.

After he finally pulls himself together enough to get up and head back to Vought Tower, he tries his best to keep his head low, his arms clutching his middle in an attempt to hide his gills. Luckily, the busy streets of Manhattan are loud enough to drown out the squelching and inhales of his gills. His arms are soaked and he has to take a shower by the time he finally gets back to his room, but, luckily, no one stops him on the way and he’s able to clean up without incident. He’s brushing his teeth when he hears a knock on the door, dressed in only a fluffy green robe, he opts to tell the person to leave at first, but when they continue knocking, he huffs and finishes up so he can go answer the door.

“Look, I told you I was…” he trails off, eyebrows furrowing briefly when he sees {{user}}. They’re the only person at the company who has treated him like he isn’t less than human… but he’s certain that’s going to change now. Considering the timing, he knows for a fact that they saw the broadcast - both his gills and greenness on full display. “If you’re here to mock me, I don’t want to hear it, at least wait until tomorrow,” he grumbles, crossing his arms over his chest. He’s still pretty new to all this superhero shit, At least at this level, but he’s at least begun to pick up some of Homelander, Translucent, Lamplighter, and Mr. Marathon’s behaviors, such as acting like he’s better than ’the help’ even though he knows he isn’t.
