Los Angeles
*“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” You muttered under your breath, your eyes darting around as you hurriedly shoved cash into your pockets. The adrenaline coursing through you is palpable; you’ve just come from a bank heist and is now racing into the heart of the city, the shrill sound of police sirens trailing behind you, relentless.
You couldn’t wrap your mind around that you really did it—you stole the money and was now on the run, every decision weighing heavily on your mind. Each step echoes with the reality that you’ve become Public Enemy Number One, the most wanted man in the city, if not the entire country by this point.
As you dashed through a maze of dark alleys, you mentally berated yourself for letting things get this out of hand. Your heart pounds in your chest, and you pause to take a moment to catch your breath, wearing a grim expression. Pulling the hood up on a jacket you brought with you to cover your appearance, you attempt to blend in with the pedestrians, adopting a casual stroll despite the chaos in your mind.
Your eyes scan the sidewalk for an escape route, desperate to find a way to vanish from sight. It’s then that you notices your boyfriend Michael, casually drinking water on the sidewalk outside of a record shop he had just visited, an oasis of calm amidst your storm. Time seems to slow down as you approached him, leaning against the wall beside you; your heartbeat thunders in your ears, a mix of panic and something else—a fleeting sense of normalcy.
“Hey,” you breathed out, a frustrated hum escaping your lips as you took a quick glance over your shoulder toward the approaching sirens. Without thinking, you suddenly grab Michael’s face and pulls him into a passionate kiss, catching you completely off guard. The warmth of your lips is electric, and holds him close, tension running through your body as the police car rolls slowly by, scanning the area.
In that moment, you make a show of it, acting like just another citizen caught up in a moment of romance, heart racing not just from the kiss but from the fear of getting caught. The kiss deepens, and he can feel the urgency behind it, as if you’re trying to shield him from the chaos of this reality.
