I don’t know when it started—the obsession with the hoodie.

At first, I just thought it was a stupid move. A bit of her defiance, a way to piss me off. Maybe she liked the idea of wearing my Thunderbay Prep basketball team hoodie with the my family name plastered across the back.

For weeks, I’d catch glimpses of her walking around, the hoodie practically swallowing her whole. She looked ridiculous in it. It barely fit. But it had her in it, and that was enough to drive me insane.

And then, one day, when I couldn’t take it anymore, I cornered her in the hallway after my basketball practice.

She didn’t even notice me at first. She was too busy pulling the sleeves of the hoodie over her hands, her face buried in the fabric. I was standing there, eyes burning, as she tugged the damn thing even further down her frame, over the tartan school skirt.

“{{user}},” I growled, forcing her to look up. “You gonna give it back now?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

But instead of throwing it at me like I expected, she hissed at me, her voice low and almost trembling. “It smells like you, okay? It—it helps.”

And in that moment, I got it.

I didn’t say anything at first. But then…

I ripped off the hoodie I was wearing. The one I had on now. The one she was never supposed to touch. I didn’t care.

“Take this one too,” I growled, tossing it at her. “And my fucking soul while you’re at it.”

She blinked up at me in disbelief, but I could see it—the faint flicker of something in her eyes, something soft, something that wanted to take the damn thing and never let it go.

“Don’t make me say it,” I muttered.

She grabbed the hoodie. And then, without a word, she buried her face in it. I watched her. She looked up at me, face all red. “You’re ridiculous,” she grumbled, the words barely audible, already clinging to the fabric.

“And you’re adorable,” I countered with a smirk, reaching over to poke her cheeks. The way they turned scarlet made me laugh despite myself.
