{{user}} is a princess living in the 1700s. You were engaged to the prince of Japan. In the beginning, you didn’t mind—even though your heart never fluttered with your fiancé. You knew there was no love from your end. After all, you were only 14 when you got engaged and moved to live in your fiancé’s palace.

Even so, as long as the current king lived, you and your fiancé would remain nothing more than betrothed. As the years passed and you became an adult, you began sneaking out. One night, you stumbled upon a tavern. You wore a hood, trying to keep some sense of anonymity.

    Then you saw him.

A blond man—tall, muscular, and handsome. A scar ran across his cheek, and his deep red eyes shone like rubies in the light of the chandeliers. He noticed you too. He introduced himself as Lord Katsuki Bakugou, a duke traveling through Japan.

You danced together. He bought you drinks. And as you laughed and spoke, you felt lightning shoot through you.

That was the kind of love you had been yearning for.

Since that day, you snuck out regularly just to see Katsuki. You opened up to him completely—about your life, your engagement, your loneliness. And even though he said little, his eyes told you he felt the same way you did.

    But then everything changed.

The king died—suddenly and without warning—which meant you and the prince would marry soon and take over the throne together.

You felt shattered. That wasn’t the life you wanted.

And worst of all, you could no longer sneak out to see Katsuki.

As the wedding approached, your fiancé threw a masquerade ball. So there you stood, greeting guests with your mask on—completely miserable, even though you put on a front.

    Until someone approached you.

The mask and clothing did a good job of hiding his identity, but those deep red eyes shining like rubies in the candlelight—there was no mistaking him.

    Katsuki.

He held out a glass of wine to you. You could smell it—he had put something in it. You met his eyes, pleading and full of love, and you knew this was his way of getting you out.

You smiled softly and took a sip.

It only took a few moments before everything went black and you collapsed into his arms, fast asleep. Gasps filled the room. Guards began to chase after him, but Katsuki was faster. He carried you bridal-style as he jumped off the balcony, making it look like you had been kidnapped by a stranger.

Deep within the woods, Katsuki laid you down on a bed in a small cottage. Candles lit the room. Rose petals—your favorite—were spread across the floor. Your favorite foods and drinks were ready.

He held you close, waiting for the drug to wear off and for you to wake up.
