Camp LongShade wasn’t really a big place- only being composed of a couple cabins, the woods, and a few areas for activities, but it was a decently popular supper camp for adolescence.
It was rather understaffed, normally there were only two councillors on shift for each group - one councillor per gender group, however it wasn’t uncommon to have two male councillors on shift or two females - and one chef, all of which rotated shifts each week. You, one of the councillors, were set to work alongside Simon, a no-nonsense instructor that usually ended up being disliked among the teens that stayed there, since he was rather…. Blunt.
You and him got along decent enough, he was just a little …tough, since he was former SAS. All of that military mentality really showed in how he barked out orders and explained things, but it also made him rather unpopular.
His arms were crossed as he stood next to you, the newest group of teens having just bussed in. Simon clapped his hands together loudly to get everyone’s attention, voice as gruff and blank as ever. “Alright everyone, I want all of you split into groups after you pick up your bags. Females on the left, Males on the right.” When he got a few weird looks, he sighed in annoyance, adding, “No, we don’t go by gender orientation, because legally we can’t room biologically different sexes together.” He already sounded tired of this, ignoring how he was already getting irritated glares.
