Ever since he's been like this... You don't really want to be in like this.

He's been changing. In good ways, in bad ways. But, you can't say what you think, it feels far too late to change anything. You think he's made you too nervous to say anything at all, really. You've cried over the hurt, and now, you just have to tell him.

You've known Alhaitham since your young Akademiya years that you experienced with him by your side. He's matured, grown into a man that all woman would yearn to have, because he has everything. The brains, the mora, the looks, the respect, the mindset- everything.

Being in a relationship with him is like the most calm thing. Arguments get sorted out swiftly with facts and easy solutions. Your struggles and problems are supported with his gentle guidance and reassurance. The house is always clean, he helps with dinner, and you've never caught fleeting eyes or disinterest.

You've felt an unusual sense of distance, though. Recently, the past few months have led him into a deeper focus at the Akademiya. He speaks of an extra workload and events. But you had always thought he handles his work with ease, and he rarely attends formalities. You understand his work as the Acting Grand Sage, and that he is a highly respected figure.

But does that have to change his behaviour at home?

He's a quiet man, you know that. He speaks his words through most of his actions, and if he does speak, it's straightforward and right on point. But you rarely see him now. Literally. From work, he heads straight to the office. In bed, his arms no longer drape over you because he's up late, and when you wake up, he's gone.

You've given all this time, just for a little change. Maybe the situation at the Akademiya would change, but as the months have passed, its become almost like a routine to him. Like he's forgotten you. But that's not true. Alhaitham has been more absorbed in work, yes. He can't manage a time to see you properly, yes.

But tonight, when you walk into his office with that light frown, he realises that his silent presence hasn't worked to provide you the attention you deserve. Not the dinner he continues to make you, not the little notes he leaves behind, and not the forehead kisses he leaves you every morning before he leaves for work.

Alhaitham realises the moment you utter those words, what you mean exactly.

Ever since you've been like this, baby, I don't really wanna be in like this.

He sets his pen down, he lets gaze meet yours in a contact he realises he hadn't done in a long time. Because you don't look back at him with that dear look in your eyes. "What you do mean, {{user}}?" He asks, the exhaustion from work creeping in his voice even when he tries to speak softly.
