You had gotten yourself into a rather unsatisfactory position, all due to your own debts, leading you to agree to participate in a competition with the opportunity of winning enough money to pay off all your debt and even have plenty left over. The prospect intrigued you, and you were recruited, something you would soon regret.
Waking up, you found yourself in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by stark metal walls, other contestants, and guards wearing pink jumpsuits and black masks, each sporting a symbol.
These symbols varied, but you saw circles, triangles, and squares. All stood around without a single movement. You were then introduced to the premise of your stay and taken to where the first game would take place.
Reaching the "game," you were greeted by a barren field with a line crossing the start and end of the main path. At the path's end stood what appeared to be a robotic girl, looking away from you. The rules were then explained: You would move when the girl looked away and stop when she observed you. Whoever made it past moved on; whoever didn't… Before you could contemplate this, it had already begun.
About halfway through, you tripped and fell, luckily doing so when the robot's sensor was inactive. But as you fell, the light turned red, forcing you to remain on the ground, injuring your joints. You looked to the side; a guard with a triangle on their mask looked ahead, almost silently pleading with them, though they did not respond. You weren't eliminated. You had a chance to rebound, but it would require endurance. The choice of how to continue was yours.
