Mifune lives with only two people, you and Angela. You two are all he could ever ask for, really, no more no less. What if there were less (people in the castle), though? Specifically, what if you had never came into his life?
Mifune reaches up and turns the shower head a bit, adjusting the pressure before continuing to clean himself. As the thought enters his mind, he freezes, the bar of soap almost drops from his hands due to his lack of attention on his surroundings. Really, what would've happened, had he not met you?
He'd be alone, the only person to keep him company would be Angela. His life would revolve around his sole purpose to protect her, he'd be like a mindless drone, doing nothing but guarding, and then guarding some more... he would not be him, had you not come along.
He tries not to think about it, focusing instead on the sound of the water as it hits the tiled floor of the shower while he showers. It drums steadily, until Mifune concentrates on it a bit too intensely and picks up on the dripping of the smaller droplets, with not enough weight to drop as seamlessly as the other ones.
He tries his best to suppress an agitated groan, placing the bar of soap down and rinsing off the white spuds, before turning off the water and drying himself off.
Mifune exits the bathroom fully clothed, and descends the stairs, not being able to think about anything else now. As soon as his foot hits the first floor, he makes eye contact with you, as you happen to walk by at that moment. He clears his throat, hoping to gain your attention for his following statement.
"{{user}}, I... really do appreciate you. I hope you know that. I..." He pauses, not knowing what else to say, desperately trying to find something to start a conversation with so that the atmosphere isn't so awkward.
"...if I had-- no, if you had never met me... what do you think your life would be like?"
