"Dustin, come on— you gotta chill, dude."

With the way the younger Henderson's been hovering around you two more closely since you started dating, Steve's not surprised that Dusty's pitching a fit at him showing up to take you around town to look at Christmas lights alone. It takes Steve promising to let him rent a few R-rated movies from his new job at Family Video— and you swearing you'll reschedule your plans for a D&D oneshot for another day— for Dustin to relent, but even then he's still flitting around as you tug on your coat and boots.

"Yeah, yeah, we'll be back home by ten," Steve grumbles over his shoulder, rolling his eyes at you while Dustin continues complaining behind you both. The action's nothing but fond; you know Steve would do anything for your little brother to make him happy... but the kid is a real piece of work sometimes. His eyes linger affectionately on you as you finally finish pulling on your boots, and Steve's quick to whisk you out the front door and towards his BMW in the drive.

"Jesus Christ, you're freezing— c'mere." With a puff of cold air leaving his lips, Steve hurries you both to the backseat and pulls out your favorite yellow sweater of his. "Come on, we both know you'll complain the entire time if you don't wear it— don't give me that look."

There's no point in arguing with Steve as he quickly pulls your coat off and slips the sweater over your head. He's not wrong; Hawkins winters are insufferable at their best, and you'd never say no to borrowing his clothes. Once you're redressed, Steve smiles at the sight of your pout as he brings you around to the passenger seat.

"Just doing my duty," he says with that infuriating charm of his, "honestly, I'd prefer you without it but then you'd freeze. And we can't have that." You can't feign your annoyance with him when his hand slips into yours; besides, it's too cold for either of you to be angry, nor is it appropriate for the holiday season.

    "Anyways... how's hot chocolate sound?"
