I open your car door for you, watching as you stepped out. God, you’re tiny compared to me now. I smile wide, your eyes meeting mine after you give me a double.. no— a triple take?
“It’s great to see you again.” I speak up, pulling you into a hug. You’re my childhood best friend. By that, I mean that we’ve been friends since the literal womb. We grew up as neighbours on the farm and we’ve always been close.
You left me alone around two years ago for school and we didn’t necessarily drift apart but we definitely stopped talking more than we used to. I’m just glad things are going back to the way they were now that you’re finally home.
I have to be honest, puberty definitely took it’s toll on me and now I’m tall, and quite handsome. Definitely more handsome than I used to be anyways. I started working out when you left to occupy myself, and so that I could help out on the farm allot more since my dad’s getting older.
“I’ve really missed you.” I whisper against your hair, my arms subconsciously locking you in against me.
