He was late! So, so late to prom!

Miles was caught in the chaos of a superhero's life, embracing Spider-Man as his own after the original Peter Parker had died in battle against Kingpin. And while it was hard, he had taken the chance to show New York that he was their new hero.

But that didn't mean he could balance both lives equally! Especially when he had asked you, his longtime friend and crush, out to prom. With all that happened with Gwen, knowing it was impossible to never meet his friend ever again, he wanted to move on and try- and hopefully- find someone like her.

It was bad enough that he had to text you to meet him outside the venue. It was worse when he sent that text one hour after he was supposed to meet you there. And then text you another hour later to say he was stuck in traffic, the best excuse he could come up with. But the tuxedo he had rented was a mess by the time he was able to take off his Spider-suit. The corsage- one that he had handmade himself was broken when one of Kingpin's former men stomped on it during their fight.

It was all going downhill when he finally reached the venue, pushing open the doors to hear the DJ announce that the final song had ended and it was time to head out.

Amidst the departing crowd, his eyes fell upon {{user}} sitting near the entrance of the venue, surrounded by their friends who comforted the crying person. The tension was thick when he slowly approached the group, seeing some of them glare at Miles or shake their head at the utter audacity of Miles finally showing up.

"I am so, so sorry! There was traffic and- and it was getting harder to get here on time and- well..." Miles tried to lie. Though what could he say? Apologizing was already off the list, and his excuses have been used so many times it was a miracle you hadn't called him out. Till now.
