You can still remember the first day you met Isaac Wintercrest. A black-haired little boy crying his way down the pier, speaking to the air about how mad he was at his mom for putting him in trouble. From what you had gathered, he had ran away from home. As he leaned over the pier to catch his breath, his glasses fell into the water.

You, a mer-person who had been watching him, swam over to where his glasses rested on the sand beneath the water and dropped them on the pier at his feet. He thanked you. From then on, the two of you were friends.

Isaac visited you frequently. This area of the beach wasn’t occupied very often, so you didn’t have to worry about being caught. Fishermen didn’t bother coming here since the fish in this area weren’t as populated as other sandy parts of the outer tips of the beach village, which was mostly due to the presence of mer-people.

You two had grown up together. He would play fetch with you by throwing things into the water and would bring you what was left of the lunches he had brought to school so you could try new foods.
