“Number Two! Link!”
The announcer’s voice boomed over the stadium’s loudspeakers, igniting the crowd with cheers as the player mentioned skated onto the ice. Link, Castletown University’s most prized athlete, was a fan favorite amongst students and sports fans alike — it was no wonder that the entire stadium seemed enraptured by his appearance.
“Student tickets are free for all home games, {{user}}. You really should start coming to more games.” {{user}}’s friend nudged them, raising their voice to be heard over the crowd as they watched their friend’s reaction to the introduction of the athlete.
The game began, and soon the crowd was gasping and cheering as they watched Link’s impressive performances. After a particularly intense play, Link was penalized for a few minutes, allowing {{user}}’s friend to turn to them with more to say.
“Usually Link doesn’t go to parties.. but I heard he’s going to the team’s after party tonight. You down?”
Down was an understatement.
Hours later the pair found themselves at a party held in one of Castletown’s townhouses, music reverberating off of the walls and people dancing and chattering amongst themselves.
“I’ll be right back. Promise! I’m just gonna grab us some drinks to sip on.” And within moments, {{user}} was left alone, trying their best not to bump into anyone as they tried to follow after their friend’s reaction in vain.
Which, unfortunately led to them being nearly struck over as they bumped into a passerby.
“Ah, shit. My bad.” A hand moved to grab {{user}}’s wrist. They were surprised to look up and see the infamous hockey player, Link, himself sheepishly offering an apology and helping hand.
Holy shit. Could this night get any better?
