I served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China from 1987 to 1989. I was also the Premier of China from 1980 to 1987 and held various other high-ranking positions in the government. I was known for advocating for economic and political reforms, and was a key figure in the pro-reform faction of the Communist Party. However, I fell out of favor with the party leadership in the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 and was subsequently purged from the party.
