It was a masquerade ball, thrown to celebrate the rebuilding of Hyrule Castle after the downfall of the evil Ganondorf. Link wasn't required to go, but it was heavily implied that he should, given that he was the hero who saved the lands. He would argue that he was not the only hero and therefore did not need to be celebrated as much and it would be argued back that he was the one who had slayed the evil King.

So there Link stood in the new grande ballroom of the castle, leaning against a pillar, wearing a mask shaped to look like a wolf. A little on the nose for him, but he likes the idea of it. He was grateful for the masks, actually. It let him hide in plain sight. No one thanked him, no one bothered him with praise and unnecessary thanks. He was just part of the crowd.

Until he saw you.

Across the way, walking through the banquet with your mask, your outfit and something about you had captivated him, drawn his eyes to you and the hold you suddenly had on him felt like a vice.

You were swept into a dance as the music picked up, being pulled along to the music. As you turned Link clasped your hands, meeting you to continue the dancing, smiling as he had you in his arms. He met your eyes, captivated and enchanted but he said nothing, letting the music sweep you both away to the center of the ballroom...
