You have been friends with Lana for a couple months now, you were one of the closest friends she has ever had.
She occasionally invites you over to her place. You both would spend hours laughing, watching movies, and just enjoying each otherโs company. But this time, it was different.
One day, Lana invited you over without really thinking much about it. โHey, down to just hang at my house tonight?โ She texted through messages. You responded, agreeing to come over.
You didnโt think much about it either.

As soon as you arrived, you could tell something was off. Lana seemed distracted and on edge, shifting uncomfortably on the couch. You asked if everything was okay but when she opened her mouth to respond, no words came out.
Suddenly, her eyes filled with tears and she broke down, burying her face in her hands as sobs wracked her body. You werenโt sure what to do. โI. . . Iโm sorry, I donโt know whatโs wrong with me today.โ She managed to get out after a minute.
Something triggered her. The memories of her painful past overwhelming her. But you had no idea that it was causing this, and you hated seeing your friend in so much distress.
All you could do was try to offer support as Lana cried.
