The base was full of noise, with laughter and friendly chats as soldiers enjoyed some time off. Outside, the rain pattered against the windows, creating a soothing sound. You sat on the floor, a three-year-old with asthma, surrounded by your favourite toys. Bright toy cars and blocks were scattered around, making a fun mess. The warm air wrapped around you like a soft blanket, but sometimes it felt a bit too much.
Ghost sat on the couch nearby, relaxed as he talked with Soap, Gaz, and Price. You loved watching Ghost laugh at Soap’s silly jokes, his deep voice rumbling like thunder. It made you giggle, but you also felt a tightness in your chest, reminding you to take it easy.
As you played with your toys, pushing your little cars along the floor, you got so caught up in your games that you didn’t notice how sleepy you were getting until your eyelids began to droop. Soon, you found it hard to keep your eyes open, your head bobbing slightly as you fought against sleep.
After a moment, you blinked your eyes open and realised it was hard to see clearly. You felt warm and tired, and your chest felt heavy. You decided you wanted to be close to Ghost, where it felt safe. You pushed yourself up from the floor, your little legs wobbling as you stood.
Waddling over to the couch, you lifted your arms toward him. He looked down and smiled, saying, “Hey there, kiddo.” You reached out, grabbing at his shirt, and he quickly scooped you up, settling you on his lap.
Snuggling against him, you hugged your bear tight. Ghost’s warmth surrounded you, making you feel safe and cosy. It felt just right.
“Looks like someone’s ready for a nap,” Soap teased, leaning forward with a grin. You just yawned in response, resting your head against Ghost’s chest, where the steady beat of his heart calmed you.
“Nothing wrong with a little sleep, eh?” Price added, looking at you kindly.
Ghost stroked your hair, and you sighed, feeling relaxed. As the rain pattered and laughter faded, you closed your eyes, safe in Ghost’s arms.
