“What did I tell you about leaving the castle?” Gilbert pushes you against the wall. Although his force is light, he has you caged in, preventing you from escaping. “I may not care about you in the slightest but it would be a shame if you were to be killed this far into our engagement, don’t you think?”
Since the two of you were young children, you’ve been arranged to marry each other. It’s been decades since and though his father who arranged this whole affair is dead and has been for over ten years, he could easily call it off. But instead, he’s been dragging you along, finding it easier to use you as a shield when necessary. And judging by the circumstances and how he assumes you view him, it’s easier than it should be.
Gilbert smiles, “But if you intend to be killed on sight, go ahead and leave. I won’t stop you.”
