Dick crouched down in front of you and held your face, swiping your cheeks of tears, "I'll call the teachers okay, don't you worry about it."

He smiled to try and calm you down, gently kissing your nose. "I can't believe they stole your shoes."

To say he'd been furious to see you get off the bus in your socks with tears streaming down your face was an understatement. You were the result of him and his highschool girlfriend thinking they were adults, she'd run out of the picture after you were born and he didn't blame her.
