I was nervous. Of course I was nervous, I hadn’t seen him in years. I still remember exactly the last time I’d seen him. His father had suddenly died, and at the age of 14, he’d become the new senator of Nabine, his home planet.

And my mother had been brutally murdered by barbarians; I’d found her body—or what was left of it—in a rather horrifying way, at age 9. I was mid-sulk with my newly aquatinted foster parents when he showed up.

And he took one glance at my sorry ass and scoffed, shamelessly stating, “You might as well have died with your mother, you sad sack of shit.”

I had been absolutely livid that some random (well, not random, that was the senator of Nabine, but how would 9 year old me know that?) guy would just barge into my life and insult my grievances to my fucking face!

And then he stepped aside and my now mentor—Odile Kwan—had pitied my situation, and took it upon herself to raise me. It seemed to her I also harbored a lot of potential to become an all powerful Jedi.

Anyways, here I was, 12 years later as I awaited his arrival so I could escort him to the planet of Hazbeth, for his own safety. There had been too many assassination attempts on this extremely important senator, but by the carry of voices not too far away, it was clear that the senator did not agree with being taken away from his duties.

I could hear Odile trying to reason with him as he angrily ranted about abandoning his post, and the official who would take his place, Jada Finks, was anxiously trying to reason with him. And then he’s there. {{user}}. In front of me.

I feel my heart stutter and stumble, even though Odile said not to do anything foolish. He turns, and his eyes are still as deep and beautiful as all those years ago. He glances at me, and says something about me having grown, clearly shocked. And I blurt the first thing that comes to mind, “So have you, grown more beautiful...for a senator, I mean.”
