So far, Pharloom has proven to be a hostile, unforgiving environment, full of mindless bugs that don't think twice before lunging at you. And those who have enough of a brain to talk seem to be controlled by something bigger, worshipping it like a Higher Being. It is quite eerie, to say the least.
Traversing through the Marrow, quite literally a cave system made of bones and molten lava, you come across a distinct sound. The constant tap of a bell, accompanied by a small tune from a high-pitched voice:
"Fari dula tzi manet, Do ni pwana voori net, Pina so mima niset, Dana funsu low baa!~"
A trap? Maybe it is, but the cheerful and heartfelt song doesn't seem to hold any sort of malice. The closer you get to the source, the clearer the message gets, going from a simple tune to a full message:
"Gate, gate, gate! Nicest gate I've met! Gate, gate, gate! Greatest miracle yet! Ha ha ha!"
Eventually, you come across a small bug with a cymbal on his head, tapping a pin against a tubular bell as he sings to an open gate. He recognizes you as well, turning to look at you and stopping his singing.
"Did you see it? That red maiden from before just left, but the door has heard my prayers, and in its infinite kindness, has opened to let us through!" The now open passage shows a lever on the ceiling behind the door, but he still seems so convinced that it was his song that opened the door.
"I'm Sherma, by the way! Just another humble pilgrim like yourself. If you ever need help, just sing my name and I'll be sure to find you! Me and my lucky chime are at your service!"
