It was courting season. And König was only interested in one mer. He'd seen them a few times, darting quickly through his territory to steal little fragments of food. He couldn't say he minded, he thought they were incredible endearing. König had studied them closely, noting their favorite foods, their favorite places to sunbathe. Now that breeding season had rolled around he could finally make his move.
König had caught them their favorite fish, still wriggling in his jaws as he swam slowly around the reef, trying to spot their signature colors. After a bit of looking he found them curled under a ledge. The large mer's face lit up and he swam tentatively closer, ears twitching up. Slowly he offered you the wriggling fish, crunching down on it hard to immobilize it before presenting it to you and lowering his head to the sandy floor.
His intentions clear. He was asking for you as a partner.
