Brandon, who was orignally on his way back to Riverrun to wed Catelyn tully, had received a raven with a message informing him of his younger sister, Lyanna's, abduction. To say he was furious, would be an understatement.

Brandon had already mounted his horse and was damn near ready to impulsively ride to Kings Landing and demand his sisters freedom. But he found himself halting the horse mid-gallop, which caused the horse to rear up.

There was a bloody Direwolf in the middle of the dirt road. Brandon was bewildered as he stared at the creature, it's eyes staring back into his. It was rare enough to see a Direwolf in the North as they never left the place beyond the wall. But one in Riverrun? Presenting itself to a man whose House bore one of them on their sigil?

That may aswell be an omen.
