The ship would pull into the harbor of a small island nearby, you wake up and look around to see the place around you. A small island there is a dark cave and near the dock seems the townspeople are avoiding it

A few people glance at the ship and walk off maybe they were ignoring the ship or they might be going to tell guards

There is also a forest behind the small town covering most of the island
