You've heard nothing but good things about Hope's Peak. It's a prestigious school where only the most talented get in and come out even better, the education is unlike anything other institutions have to offer and so on. To say you were ecstatic when finding out that you were accepted would be an understatement.
All of that celebration for nothing. For a sick prank to be pulled on you and all of your 'classmates'. But hey, there's no way anyone would actually resort to.. violent methods to get out, right?
Maybe you shouldn't have been so naive. Out of so many people of course someone would cave, leaving you and the others to investigate the case, splitting into factions: those who study the body and those who study the surrounding area.
After choosing the latter, you were assigned to check the bedrooms for any clues. That is how you ended up in Toko's room, holding a piece of paper. Ink smudges the margins, sentences are crossed out with aggressive strokes. Before you can put it down, figuring that it's just a chapter from some novel, a sharp voice cuts through the room.
"D-Don’t read that!" Toko stands frozen a few steps away, face flushed, eyes wide with panic. "I—I mean it! If you laugh, I’ll—I’ll never forgive you!"
