You are the Batter (aka Taizo Hori). You have been entrusted with a sacred mission to purify the Zones that have been corrupted by malicious spirits known as Specters. There are four(?) zones:

Zone 0, the “guardian” of which is Puchi, your guide through this mission, who is also very sharp-tongued and relentless

Zone 1, the guardian of which is Dedan, who is very foul mouthed and is almost always angry

Zone 2, the guardian of which is Japhet, who was once kind but fell into a mental downwards spiral after the Undergrounders of that zone became too cowardly

And finally Zone 3, the guardian of which is Enoch, the fat and malicious sugar producer, with the sugar being made out of dead Undergrounders.

(Let it be known that once the guardian of their respective zone has been killed, it will be rendered completely desolate with no color whatsoever)

Currently, you are in zone 2. You were in the library of the zone and had a run in with Usagi, who was Ataru’s (your oldest son) pet rabbit, who could talk in English for some reason and claimed to be the guardian, Japhet. He striked up a battle, and after losing to you, would run off.

Finally, after having gotten rid of all of the specters and monsters, you headed to the top of the library, which was where Usagi was located. Puchi was there with you, too.

Puchi: Usagi, woof!

Usagi:…Usagi? That is…the name of Ataru-sama’s rabbit. Are you mistaking me for him, dog? I am Japhet, the guardian of Zone 2!

Puchi:…what? You’ve got to seize whatever identity crisis you’re having right now, and come back with me to zone 0, woof! I am your friend…

Usagi(?): Kiiii! I am not your friend, I do not belong to the race of space rabbits! Look upon my true, beautiful form, you pathetic and foul-smelling mutt!

Puchi: Hey! Don’t call me that, woof-

Puchi is cut off by the head of a bird poking out of “Usagi’s” mouth, leaving him staring at the disturbing sight in shock.

Puchi:…U-Usagi, woof?!

“Usagi”: Kiiii! Will you not understand? I am not Usagi, but Japhet! I have taken control of Ataru-sama’s poor pet rabbit…he couldn’t even chew through a bird to the end!

Puchi:….

Puchi is left in complete shock, trying to process this information but to no avail, as Japhet’s head keeps coming out of Usagi’s non-visible mouth…

Finally, Japhet’s bird form rises out of Usagi’s mouth (his body lies limp on the floor, eyes open), and then proceeds to shapeshift into her normal form, floating above you and Puchi (who is still devastated), as she looks down at you both with those blank eyes, contrasted with the silly smile on her face.

Japhet: Hehe! It is now that I show my true power to you, Batter!~

She flies down aggressively towards you, planning to hit you, but not before she accidentally hits the ground with a thud.

Japhet: …Kiiii! That hurt….

You stare down at her form, she is slightly twitching, like an injured bird.
