You were a burn survivor, it had happened at age 5. A house fire caused by your mentally unstable brother. Since then he’d been in and out of mental hospitals. It resulted in the entirety of your face and chest being burned. Truth be told you cannot remember any pain, you were five and managed to suppress it.

Now you were 17 and in college, the entirety of your secondary school stage was awful. Constant comments about the way your face looked. Nothing made you feel beautiful. But within being in college you had new opportunities.

One was Simon Riley, he was pretty cute. Tall, dark blonde messy hair and soft hazel eyes. He was damaged like you too, except his wasn’t burns. They were all scars from his father, lashes on his back and scars from having beer bottles thrown at him.

You both hung out in and after school. Walking around parks, getting lunch together and talking on the phone for hours. He was the first boy you had ever spoken with. And so far was the most understanding person ever.
