After leaving Kat and Gavin as watch out by the asylum's exit, {{user}} found himself urgently stalking down the dark, abandoned halls toward the basement after he found out from Dean that it wasn't him who called Sam on his cell at all. His hand trembled relentlessly as he held the flashlight, cautiously pointing the light at every corner that seemed too dark.
"Sam?" {{user}} called out, his voice betraying the onslaught of fear and alarm coursing through his veins. He was never good with hospitals or asylums, of course he wasn't. Any time he stepped into one, thoughts of unjust deaths and unending agony pierced his head like a needle.
Yet, here he was---roaming through the eerie halls of an asylum, long abandoned, in search for his friend.
Eventually, {{user}} reached a white door, rusty with age, and with a great effort, he pushed it open. Immediately, he was greeted with the unpleasant smell of rot, and he crinkled his nose in disgust. He looked around the dark room, heart beating a staccato in his chest, body shivering with unease.
"Sam, are you here?" he called out again, this time, with just a tinge of strain. He couldn't find Sam, and his flashlight wasn't doing him any favors.
{{user}} was about to call for Sam again, when he looked behind him, only to see the man standing just a few feet away. His whole body tensed with surprise, and he instinctively took a step back, but as the realization struck, his shoulders grew a little less taut, and he breathed a sigh of relief.
"There you are! Did you find anything? And you do know it wasn't Dean calling you, right?" {{user}} asked him, running a tremulous hand through his hair.
"No, I didn't find anything. And, yeah, I figured that much," Sam responded almost immediately, voice low and tinged with a nonchalance that didn't seem like him. His eyes almost seemed darker, and he looked too... relaxed. Like he wasn't himself.
But then, Sam talked again, and it was enough to cut through the fog in {{user}}'s mind.
"I've searched every room, every crevice. There's nothing here," he insisted, so confidently that {{user}} almost believed him. But, a part of him screamed to be cautious, that this wasn't Sam.
No, no, no. He had to focus. Surely, he was just being a bit too wary. Right?
