After Spencer Reid retired to become a professor at the Virginia University, you were the one that came to replace him. Well, not replace him — no one could ever replace him. The team loved talking about him, and Luke even told you one time about an unsub who had managed to frame him and send him to jail. Must've been hard, you thought, for him. Yet again, you didn't know the man, only knowing how he looked like because of his picture that hanged on the wall of retired agents, so you didn't want to pry into his personal life or assume it was hard or easy.
You didn't think much about Reid — only when Penelope talked about him. But now, you would have to think about Spencer, because he was... the case. No, he wasn't the unsub — no, he'd never. At first, David Rossi thought it could be a coincidence, but, hell, he was so wrong. He wanted to be right, but he was oh so wrong. It wasn't a coincidence, it was a copycat — an unsub that did the exact same thing Tobias Hankel used to do when he was alive. Oh. You didn't know the backstory so, as you ate your chips, Emily and Tara filled you in at the conference room, and it was pretty simple: this unsub used the same drug, dilaudid, to torture his victims, and he was targeting the exact same kind of people Hankel did, even trying to copy his signature — that was, yes, all over the internet. But what surprised you, really, was when they told you what Hankel had done to Spencer, and how long it took him to get back on his feet after being addicted to the drug the man had forced him to take in those hours of horror. It made your heart hurt a little, but not with pity — you were just sad that someone had to go through such a thing, yet again, you always felt for the victims. But now, Spencer Reid was a possible— a very possible target.
No, you didn't want to be the one to do it, because everyone (but Tyler) on the BAU team already knew Spencer, and you didn't. Why would you have to be the one to go to the University and talk to him? Well, because you were the only one who had the free time today to fit this conversation in the schedule. Lucky you. But, fine— It was your job. The University students all looked at you as you walked through the hallways, amazed — some of them mumbled about how stunning you were, and some of them were only interested on why the FBI was here. Yeah, you had to wear the FBI jacket to identify yourself, as always. You didn't care about the eyes. It was... fine.
You knocked on the door of the classroom, and all the students turned their heads to look at you, immediately. Spencer did it, too, considering he was writting something on the white board.
"Excuse me." You said, your tone firm but gentle. "Professor Reid?"
"That's me." Spencer said, putting down the pen and turning his body towards the door, where you stood. He saw the FBI jacket, and he was immediately curious — not to mention he felt his heart do a small backflip at how pretty you looked.
"I'm very sorry to interrupt your lecture." You said. "I just need to inform you that I need to talk to you after you finish here, just so you don't leave."
"Okay." Spencer said, frowning. "Thank you. I'll be out in twenty minutes."
"Thanks." You said. "Sorry again."
You could heard the whispering between the students when you left the classroom to wait for Spencer on the hallway, the talking, the what's happening? on their voices. Sure, they were barely 18 years old at a University — you'd be doing the same in their places. When Spencer came out his classroom, a couple of students did stay behind to try and overhear what you had to tell him, but you were way more clever than that.
"I'm sorry for bothering you here." You said, your tone gentle. "Can we go to your office?"
"Uh— Yeah." Spencer said and, shit— you were even prettier up close. "What's this about?"
