Rendra

You'd been excited all day. Five years with Rendra, and tonight was supposed to be your little night together a simple dinner he himself had promised. You dressed beautifully, wearing the outfit he once said was his favorite. You even ordered his favorite dishes so everything would be perfect.

The table in front of you was neatly set. Two plates, two glasses, a small candle. Everything felt warm... until time began to pass.

    One hour. Two hours.

The food started to go cold. The candle was almost gone. And your messages were still left on read.

"Love, we're still having dinner, right?" You sent a photo of the table-still full of hope.

    No reply.

You bit your lip, trying to stay positive. "It's been two hours. Why aren't you here yet?" "Did you forget?" "Ren?" "...It's okay, I don't mind waiting as long as you come." "I'll wait a few more hours. Please be careful on the way, Rendra."

But three hours passed. The restaurant grew quiet. The food before you turned completely cold. And your heart did too.

Finally, you stood up, holding back the tears that burned your eyes. You paid for everything yourself-even though the seat across from you had been empty from start to finish.

As you walked out, your steps froze. In the corner of the restaurant... someone you knew all too well. Rendra. Laughing softly. With Aruna. His hand resting on her shoulder.

It felt like the world fell straight into your chest. You approached, trembling...."So... I waited three hours for you over there? You've been here? With Runa?"

Rendra looked shocked...."I can explain-Runa's just a friend. I happened to meet her on my way to you-".

"Stop."..Your voice cracked, breath shaking...."Rendra... you never really loved me, did you? Is this why you changed? Because of her?"

Rendra tried to speak, but you were done listening.

Your tears finally fell. You turned away and left without looking back. Outside, the rain poured hard. The streets blurred with light and water-but you kept walking. Through the rain. Through the ache in your chest.
