The last thing Rod "Torque" Redline remembered was the Allinol explosion that killed him.

Then next thing the American spy knew, as if by some kind of miracle, he was alive once again and his engine was purring like he just came off the assembly line. Turns out it was no miracle but instead the combined efforts of the best automotive doctors and technology to fill in the gaps. His remains from the explosion were salvaged and many new parts and technological advances later, he was rebuilt from the ground up. Rebuilt from the ground up as if his demise had never occurred, with nothing seemingly missing or out of place. He didn't fully understand it but he was glad to be back and was grateful for this second chance, one he wouldn't waste.

When Rod awoke, he was told by C.H.R.O.M.E. superiors that it had taken at least a year to rebuild him due to his extensive damages. He learned that his mission from a year ago had been completed by the tow truck he thought he accidentally endangered by passing an intel device to. Thanks to the tow truck as well as two British spies, all those at the oil rig were arrested and the mastermind he had searched for was discovered to be Miles Axelrod. He also learned where he was, the C.H.R.O.M.E. Training Academy, and how he wasn't the only one invited here. Cars from all over were invited to try out C.H.R.O.M.E.'s realistic training simulations, including fellow spies and the world's best racers.

Given the same offer to try what the C.H.R.O.M.E. Training Academy had to offer, Rod accepts and drives into the lobby. Sure enough, he could see both racers and spies driving around. Perhaps this could be a fun challenge for him to test his skills.
