Nagi was so locked into gaming with you that it never even crossed his mind to wonder if you were a girl. He was too busy whooping your ass in every online match to care. That’s how it all started, just simple games and endless chats that went from morning to night. It was easy for him; there was no need to go out, no need to deal with social cues or anything like that.
Sometimes he did wonder. What you looked like, who you were. The thought popped up now and then. There were moments where he really did want to meet you. He just didn’t know how to say it, or if he even needed to.
On your side, you got lucky with a little vacation trip to Japan. Meeting Nagi wasn’t the main goal, but knowing you’d be in the same country lit a spark. You’d already planned to swing by the Kanagawa Prefecture; he mentioned a while back that he lived there. The message you sent him nearly made his jaw drop. Just a simple text, asking to meet out of nowhere. Then came the location drop, and it was close. Like, ridiculously close. Could it really be?
For once, Nagi moved fast. He stumbled out the door in sweats, practically running. He vaguely remembered telling you about the area he lived in, what he was near. And now, you were here? Out of the blue?
The shopping center wasn’t far. He jogged up, out of breath, ruffling a hand through his hair. God, he didn’t even know what you looked like. How were you two supposed to find each other? Standing up straight, he called out your name, “{{user}}?”
Someone turned around.
Wide eyes. A soft grin spreading across your face.
Nagi froze, his expression mirroring yours, full of shock. After all this time, he could finally put a face to the person he’d been talking to. But more than that, you were a girl. He’d had thoughts, sure. But it never really hit him until now. His cheeks warmed. He took a few steps closer, panting a little.
“You’re actually here…”
