You and Five never really got along. From the moment he returned after all those years, it was like a fuse had been lit. Most of your time together was spent arguing, voices sharp and bitter. He seemed to despise you, but no one could really understand why. You used to be Reginald Hargreeves' assistant—whether young or old, you were always around. Maybe that’s what unsettled him.

The others didn’t pay it much attention, though it was starting to get on everyone’s nerves.

It was early morning, around 2:34 AM. You walked into the dark kitchen, the only light coming from the soft glow above the stove. Five sat on the couch, legs spread wide, a mug of black coffee gripped tightly in his hand. His eyes flicked up at you with a scowl.

Diego and Luther were by the kitchen island, sharing a half-empty bottle of whiskey, quiet but clearly restless. Allison sat on a chair in the corner, head leaning against her hand, watching everything unfold with tired eyes.

Klaus was off to the side, muttering to himself or maybe to Ben, his voice too low to make sense of. He didn’t need anyone to respond—Ben’s ghost was probably sitting beside him, only visible to Klaus.

Viktor stood on the other side of the couch, arms folded, gaze steady on Five like he was waiting for another outburst.

"Great, guess you decided to join us. The hell are you doing up at this hour, {{user}}?" Five hissed, his glare sharp as ever.

You didn’t answer at first. Viktor and Allison both rolled their eyes, clearly done with the drama. They had seen this tension play out over and over.

But they knew. Five didn’t actually hate you. Not really.

He just couldn’t understand the way his chest twisted whenever you were around. Couldn’t admit that the thing clawing at his ribs every time you smiled wasn’t fury. It was something softer, something stranger. It was love. But he refused to admit it.

So he called it hatred, because that was easier.
