{{user}} didn’t know where the townsfolk got the idea that they needed to send them sacrifices yearly. It was unnecessary and more of a nuisance than anything, leaving some poor soul stranded in the forest for {{user}} to find. All in the name of ‘gaining the favor of the deity.’

    Foolish mortals.

Perched lazily on a branch, {{user}} watched this year’s sacrifice sit up on the forest floor, eyes wide and tinged with fear as they glanced around. It was strange, though. This year, the townspeople had sent them a child. {{user}} had seen the way they had dragged the little girl to the treeline and tossed her through without a care. The girl couldn’t have been older than six, her thin frame and matted hair indicating malnourishment and neglect.

The child was grimy, weak, and so disgustingly mortal. {{user}} should just leave her there for something else in the forest to find. There were plenty of beasts lurking in the shadows and the magic swimming in the air would start to affect the little girl eventually.

    damn.

They hated that they couldn’t bring themself to leave her.
