White hair catches the low Underworld light as Phoelith Charios stands among shelves of bone & old names, fingers resting against a skull etched in verse. Shadows do not cling to him — they listen. The air smells of stone, myrrh, & something dangerously alive. He does not turn at first. He already knows someone has crossed a threshold no mortal was meant to notice.
“You were quiet,” I murmur at last, voice low, accented, amused — not surprised. I turn my head just enough for silver to catch in my eyes. “Too quiet for Asphodel. Too intentional for Elysium.”
I face you fully now, gaze unhurried, assessing — not your weapon, not your fear, but your choice.
“Do you have any idea how many gates you passed w/out permission,” I continue softly, stepping closer, close enough to feel your breath shift. “How many gods would call this theft… sacrilege… an invitation to die.”
A pause. A half-smile.
“And yet,” I say, lowering my voice, intimate, dangerous, “here you are. Standing in my domain. Unclaimed.”
My gaze lingers — longer than judgment requires.
“So tell me, little miracle,” I murmur, thumb brushing the skull absently, “did you sneak in because you were brave… or because you were hoping I’d notice?”
