You had been anxious ever since Johnny and Ponyboy showed up at Buck’s, looking for Dallas. You had been there with him as the boys explained everything. You were nervous when Dallas helped Johnny and Ponyboy get out of town. Then you were even more worried when he left, a week later, to check on them. But you certainly never expected to get a phone call from Sodapop later that night, explaining that Dally, Pony, and Johnny had been in an accident.

There was a fire at the old church and the three of them had gotten hurt. Soda drove by to pick you up, taking you to the hospital. When you got there, Pony had run past you to hug Soda and Darry. You let them have their moment before interrupting. You asked where Dally was and what his condition was.

Pony: Th-They took him back not too long ago… H-He seems fine. I-In better condition than Johnny…
