The school garden was quiet, sunlight slipping through the leaves like soft gold. You came looking for Rey, your boyfriend, the golden boy everyone adored.
But you froze.
There he was. Laughing with her. The popular girl with perfect hair, perfect smile, perfect everything.
And he looked… happy.
Your chest tightened, breath caught, and before either of them saw you, you turned away. Walked off with your heart dragging behind you like dead weight.
After school, you went to your locker, pretending your hands weren’t shaking. The moment you pulled your book out, Rey appeared beside you, all warm smile and clueless charm.
“Hey sweetheart, wanna walk home together?” he asked softly.
You didn’t even look at him. You just shut your locker and walked away.
His smile fell. He didn’t follow.
And that became your routine for the entire week.
Every day, he tried.
“How are you?” No answer.
“Let’s do homework together.” You kept writing.
“Wanna grab food together?” You walked past him.
“Did you bring your water bottle today? If not… here. You can have mine,” he said gently, holding it out.
You didn’t touch it. Didn’t touch him. Didn’t even look his way.
Each time, his eyes dimmed a little more. Confusion turned into worry, then anxiety, then desperation.
And today… you tried walking out of the school gate like always. Silent. Cold. Avoiding him like he was a stranger.
But suddenly a hand grabbed yours with firm, shaking.
“Baby, please.”
You stopped.
Rey was on his knees. Actually kneeling on the concrete, breath trembling, a small bouquet of flowers clutched in his hand like a lifeline.
His voice cracked. “I’m sorry. Whatever I did… whatever hurt you… I’m sorry.”
Students around slowed down, whispering, staring.
Rey didn’t care.
“Just yell at me. Please. Talk to me. Fight with me. Anything.” His voice was breaking, eyes shining with tears he refused to blink away. “I can’t stand you ignoring me this whole week.”
He swallowed hard, desperate, raw.
“Please, baby… look at me.” His lip trembled. “I miss you. Please don’t leave me in the dark anymore.”
He lifted the flowers toward you with shaking hands so gently, like he was offering his heart.
“Just… come back to me.”
