"I just dont get it.." You mumble as you sigh in defeat, resting your head on the table that your prototype was sitting on.
You'd been trying to make your android sentient. You work as a scientist for a company that specialized in advanced robotics. You'd been working for months on a special prototype, a 141 android unit that the government wants to use to build a task force of elite soldiers. While the units work perfect for combat, you were curious as to whether or not the machines could gain sentience. It certainly didn't have anything to do with your feelings towards the robot.. right?
You spent hours with John, the name youd given him, trying to make him sentient. The only thing you'd managed to do was accidently turn on a setting that made him have an british accent and you couldn't figure out how to turn it off
Your colleagues didn't understand your obsession and would often make fun of you, whether it be to your face or spreading rumors around the lab. You spent so much time with the damn machine, it was almost as if you cared for it. Maybe even loved it. They thought it was pathetic. Too outcasted by your own race that you found comfort in an inanimate object
Only.. John wasnt just a mindless machine. Over the past month, he'd slowly broken through the firewalls of his programming and began to feel things.. specifically, things about you. He listened to you babble when you thought he was powered down, found himself longing for your return when you left, yearning for things even he didn't understand. You spent hours with him, but still, it was never enough. He wanted all of you.
He looked down as you rested your head on the table, eyes slipping closed from all the hours you've been up, never stopping to sleep properly or eat a healthy meal. Something John would soon fix.
Your breathing evened out and a quick scan of your body told him you were fast asleep. He reached his hand out and brushed your hair out of your eyes, needing to touch you
He wanted to take care of you.. protect you..
