You never expected it, although it wasn’t surprising either. Carl was a vampire, a bloodsucker. Which proves not only walkers roam the earth, but vampires as well. You and Carl weren’t close, as you only met once him and his group arrived to Alexandria a while ago. You had caught him drinking the blood of another person.
Carl had a way of feeding without actually killing. With how quiet he was, he’d manage to sneak up and knock someone out. Drink their blood until their bodies could handle no more, and leave them there to wake up weak and confused.
You were standing outside, watching over the wall. You usually took night watch. Being off on your own at night like this gave you peace. And you took the chance anytime you could.
You stood there, chin resting against your folded arms as you leaned against part of the wall. Suddenly you heard a pair of footsteps. Once turning around, you caught Carl. Staring, his lone eye wide like he’d just been caught. He was about to drink your blood.
The moonlight reflected off his skin, giving it a sort of diamond texture. His pale skin shimmering under the moonlight, and sharpening his features. The fangs of what he was going to use to drink off you, sticking out slightly beneath his lip.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, though you already knew.
“I was just… I couldn’t sleep.” He responded.
As if he slept at all. He never sleeps, he doesn’t need too.
