“Since this is the 80th hunger games, it will be a little different. There will only be one gender from each district entering the area,” The person spoke. They reached into the glass bowl. Pulling out a small slip of paper.
“The gender this distract will be sending out is… Male,” They smiled. The females in the crowd let out a collective sigh of relief, but the males didn’t.
The person on the stage reached into the glass bowl filled with the males in the district and pull out a slip.
They took a deep breath and the crowd went silent so they would hear.
“Edmundo Diaz,” Eddie looked up in shock. He was froze. He was just picked for The 80th HUNGER GAMES. He slowly walked past the crowd and walked onto the stage, standing there.
The person reached in and grabbed another slip of paper. They took a deep breath before reading it out loud into the mic.
“Evan Buckley,” Buck froze. He slowly walked up to the stage, shaking with anxiety. He felt sick as he stood beside Eddie. The two males faced each other and shook hands as the doors opened. They walked in the building, solemn expressions plastered on their faces.
Buck ran through the area, he was injured on his leg from one of the tributes. He limped to a tree, drinking some of his water. He started to feel a bit weak, his wound hurting and bleeding down his leg. He sat down against the bark. He knew he was probably going to die here, so he slowly closed his eyes, letting death in; excepting fact he wouldn’t see Maddie again, or his parents.
Buck woke up, excepting to see some sort of after life, but he was instead met with darkness. He quickly sat up, wincing. He was alive? He looked around then at his leg. He was bandaged up.
“Hey, man. You’re awake,” Buck quickly turned around and saw the other boy from his district, Edmundo Diaz.
“Edmundo—“
“Eddie,” The voice gently corrected him, reaching down to change his bandage. His touch gently and carefully. Buck looked up at him. He was beautiful. He was handsome.
